Ceramics is a very strong material but it is not indestructible and care must be taken to handle it.
Dinner ware, plates, saucers, cups, etc. can be dish washed but at temperatures of about 60 degrees celsius (140 fahrenheit). Products that are used for food are lead free so you can use dishes safely.
You can put your cups in the micro-oven for a short period of time but remember that porous earthenware ceramics heats up as its components respond to microwave. So be careful when handling the ware as it may have acquired some of the heat of the liquid.
You can not put your porous earthenware ceramics in the oven for long. It risks breaking.
Otherwise, non food products require normal care and attention as you would do with any object you treasure.
