Our Policy
Your Banking Data
The internet is a magnificent new opportunity for national and international shopping but it is also a magnificent opportunity for the dishonest to grab and use information, especially if it is banking information.
We are all aware of the problems associated with internet fraud.
Our policy simply stops dishonest people from ever being offered an opportunity to get hold of your personal financial data. Whilst many merchant web site use sophisticated systems to protect the banking data they receive, sometimes failing in their task as the result of employees unfaithfulness, hackers activity or simply in-house thieving, we simply do not hold it. We let the banking system take charge of the problem.
To ensure that the information you post is not detectable we have also implemented sophisticated SSL, a technology that encrypts your data in a form that can not be unscrambled.
Your "Grace" Period
Once you order the goods and our settlement bank receives your banking data, you will be given 5 days to change your mind. During this time you can organize your timetable with the ceramist and we will organize the production of your goods. At the end of this period of "grace", unless we are informed otherwise,
your order will be accepted by us and your card will be charged by the settlement bank. The goods will then be posted when ready or when agreed between you and the ceramist. Normal guarantees for internet transactions (See refund policy and period below) will then apply.
Your Private Information
1. All the private data you submit to us will remain private to us. To get to us this data passes through the same encryption system described above. It is thus not detectable by third parties.
2. You may decide to subscribe to the Deruta Newsletter, which is the electronic information arm of Deruta and the world of ceramics. If you subscribe you may receive the newsletter through trusted operators. These operators will have the same obligations we have as for the diffusion of private data.
We will not release any data for mass mailings.
Your Refund Period
Dissatisfied customers may ask for a refund within the normal terms of internet trading. ie. within 7 days from the moment of receipt of the goods. Please note that, according to EU regulations you have the right to cancel the order within seven days of our contract with you, or seven days from receipt of the goods (whichever is the longer).
We do not want, however, to have to deal with dissatisfied customers ever. This is expensive in terms of time and money and our key objective is to ensure that you return not that you go away. So please do well inform the ceramist of all your requirements before he posts or manufactures the goods. Good communication is the best way to avoid misunderstandings.
However, should you finally remain a dissatisfied customer, please ensure that:
1. You post a fax to the ceramist or send a confirmed email through the Art1st network (See Complaints section) informing them that you intend to return the goods within 7 days of their receipt (or 7 days from the contract whichever is the longer).
Ship the goods back to us within 7 days of your complaint. The goods will have to be delivered undamaged and they must be fully insured at their initial purchase price. Once the goods have been received, and if undamaged, you will be immediately credited the purchase price of the goods. If the goods are received damaged, we will inform you and you will be able to claim the purchase price from your insurance.
The same rulings apply for customized goods, if any.
Transport and InsuranceEach object is sold cost of transport and full insurance included (Ex. your local taxes). This stops confusion as to the additional costs generally added to each sale. It also assures the owner that, if a piece is broken during transport, it will be replaced (see below).
Multiple orders from several ceramists may also call for a percentage discount from Art1st.
Breakages/InsuranceRarely, but it may happen, a piece will break during transport. The ceramics you bought are fully insured. It will be necessary for you to bring together the broken pieces and post two or three digital photos of the broken object. Photos will be used by the ceramist involved to recover the insurance costs. The object will then be replaced by the ceramist who will add, to the number (See certification section), an R to indicate it is a replacement. The year of manufacture may also change.
This does not change the present or future value of the object but guarantees you against unwarranted duplications of the same object.
When you ask for a replacement you should confirm to the shop that the original was bought through the Art1st network.
Terms and National Import Taxes
Are taxes applied on entry? Do I need to employ a customs broker?
There may be additional taxes applicable when you import goods in your country.
It is not possible for us to detail each country’s national taxation as these vary considerably from country to country.
In the US, for example, you will be charged duties from 2 to 6% of the value of your goods. Depending on what you import.
In most situations you will not need to engage a customs broker as carriers clear the item through customs on your behalf. But if you need a customs broker let the ceramist know and they will help.
